Frequently Asked
Questions

What does a professional home organiser do and why might I need one?

A professional home organiser works with you to declutter and organise your home in a way that makes everyday life feel easier. If your space is starting to feel overwhelming, or things just aren’t working as well as they could, I’m here to help you reset. Together, we’ll sort through your belongings and create simple, manageable systems so your home feels calmer, more functional, and easier to maintain.

How long will it take to declutter and organise my home?

This depends on the space and how much there is to go through. As a guide, most spaces can be completed in around 6 hours. Smaller areas (like playrooms or under-stairs cupboards) can often be done in 4. During our consultation call, I’ll be able to recommend the best package for you.

How much will it cost?

I offer a minimum of 4 hours and work at £50 per hour. •4 hours = £200 •6 hours = £300 •24 hours = £1100 (£100 saving) The 24-hour package is paid in advance and can be used flexibly over a 6-month period. I also offer vouchers if you’d like to purchase a session for a friend or family member.

What should I expect from the process?

Step 1: A no-obligation consultation call, up to 30 minutes. FaceTime is ideal so I can see the space and recommend the right package. Step 2: Hands-on decluttering and organising. We’ll work through your belongings together, deciding what to keep, donate or let go of, and then organise everything in a way that works for you. You can be as involved as you like in this step. Step 3: A follow-up call a few weeks later to see how everything is working for you. For more detail, you can visit my services & pricing page.

Do I need to declutter beforehand or buy storage?

No prep needed at all. In fact, it’s often better if you don’t declutter beforehand, as we’ll go through everything together in a really thoughtful way. There’s also no need to buy any storage in advance. Once we’ve edited your belongings, I can recommend simple solutions that work for your space. Often people have enough anyway!

Do I need to be at home?

Yes - at least for the decluttering part. It’s important that you’re involved in deciding what to keep and what to let go of. For the organising stage, you can dip in and out, as long as you’re available for the occasional question. If we’re working through someone else’s belongings, they’ll need to be present too.

Will you make me throw things away?

Absolutely not. I’ll gently guide you through the decision-making process, but what stays and what goes is always completely up to you.

Will you judge the chaos?

Never. I know how quickly things can build up, and I’m here to help, not judge. If anything, I love seeing the transformation at the end!

Will you take photos of my home?

Only if you’re happy for me to! Many clients love having before and after photos to look back on. I’ll always ask permission first and would never share anything publicly without your consent. No identifiable details will ever be shown.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to rearrange, just let me know as soon as possible. Where I can, I’ll always try to find another time that works. Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in future bookings requiring a deposit.

Do you offer a disposal service?

I don’t offer a removal or waste disposal service. However, I’ll provide you with a helpful list of local services so you can easily donate, recycle or dispose of items after our session.

Are you insured?

Yes, I’m fully insured, including public liability insurance, so you can feel at ease throughout the process. I’m also a member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO) and work in line with their Code of Ethics.
